How much weight the pallet or bin can support should be top of mind. Different pallets are designed to hold different weights, so it’s important to choose one that can support the weight of your cargo without compromising safety. Overloading a pallet will lead to damaged cargo and by extension unhappy customers.

2. Dimensions (size of the pallet):
Pallet dimensions differ from pallet type. Selecting the right size depends on your storage and transportation needs.
Standard sizes like the Euro Pallet (1200mm (w) x 800mm (h)) and the USA Pallet (1219mm x 1016mm) are widely used in the Western Cape. Our fruit and wine (to name just a few) is world renowned so it’s no surprise it leaves our shores fast.
Exporting to the United States or Europe requires the exported goods to meet certain requirements. Selecting the correct pallet which meets the technical requirements for exporting is important to avoid your products staying in the harbour.
3. Material:
We manufacture our pallets and bins from pine timber and Ring-shanked coil nails.
Wooden pallets are the most traditional and widely used due to their strength and cost-effectiveness for our industry.
Plastic pallets are durable and reusable but tend to be more expensive due to the manufacturing process.

- Heat Treatment (HT): Wood must be heated to a minimum core temperature of 56°C for at least 30 minutes.
