Executive Summary

Morreto Trade was founded in 2002 as a side business of Koos Smit, focussing in selling cartons and other packaging material to farmers. After more than 25 years working as a fruit packhouse manager, Koos decided in 2009 to work full-time for his own company. By this time Morreto Trade was manufacturing pallets to compliment the product range offered to customers.

Morreto Trade has grown to be a preferred pallet supplier in the Western Cape for the fruit export market, the wine industry and various FMCG and industrial companies.

In Augustus 2018 Koos’ oldest son Janno, a Chartered Accountant, joined Morreto Trade to lead the finance side of the business, grow sales and implement systems in the company. Short thereafter in October 2018, Koos’ youngest son, Ehlers, also joined the team to help manage and grow the daily operations of the company.

Morreto Trade is an accredited pallet supplier for the Summer Citrus from South Africa program, supplying citrus to the USA. This means that all standards and requirements are met, and that all 3rd party insurance is in place.

During 2020 through a visit in the Patensie en Kirkwood area, we saw the opportunity to supply quality export pallets for the citrus market in the Eastern Cape. MTEC Pallets was established and is situated in Thornhill.

We offer solutions, don't delay.
